Youth climate lawsuit forces Hawaii to act

Thirteen young people in Hawaii sued the Department of Transportation for failing to meet the state’s climate goals. In 2024, the case was settled. The department must now decarbonize transportation by 2045 and establish a youth council to include young Hawaiians’ priorities on public transit and bike lanes.
